Types of Agreements We Support

Use the categories below to help identify the agreement that best fits your situation. Some agreements may also be subject to university procurement policies (e.g., thresholds, signature authority).

Revenue Transactions

These agreements generally involve services provided by the university that are outside of instruction, research, and industry partnerships. They typically include:

  • Limited or no university interest in resulting intellectual property (IP)
  • Routine or standardized services
  • A "testing service" model (material in > data out)
  • Activities performed following established university protocols and adhere closely to the description of activities advertised for sale to the public

Events, Sponsorships & Athletics

Special Event Use Permits (Vendor Fairs)

Used for vendors participating in OSU-sponsored events on campus.

Event & Rec Team Sponsorships

  • Covers sponsorships for events or Rec Sports teams.
  • May include product donations or services in place of a fee.

Competition Agreements (Intercollegiate Sports)

Contracts for OSU teams participating in athletic events or tournaments.

Programs & Academic Partnerships

Student Internship & Study Abroad Programs

Facilitates student and faculty participation in:

  • Internships
  • Exchanges
  • Study abroad

Includes host or home site affiliation agreements and internship/externship host site contracts.

Collaborations (Pathways & Ecampus)

Programs that support student transition to OSU, including:

  • High school to OSU
  • Community college to OSU
  • Industry organization partnerships

May also include Ecampus programs offering degrees, certificates, or Microcredentials, and may include scholarships or other financial incentives for participants.

Dual & Joint Degree Programs

  • Dual degree: Two degrees awarded (one from each institution)
  • Joint degree: One shared degree awarded collaboratively (between two institutions)

Other Agreement Types

Equipment Loans

Short-term access to equipment owned or controlled by the university. May be free or include a fee.

Technology Use

Grants external parties access to university technology.

Creative & Publication Agreements

OSU Press Contracts

Contracts for publishing, distributing, and selling literary works. Also includes licensing and translation agreements.

Art Loans, Sales, and Exhibits

Covers the transfer of artwork for display or sale. Applies to art owned or controlled by the university.
